About Wular Lake- Largest freshwater lake in India, second largest in Asia (after Lake Baikal).- Fed by Jhelum River and 25 other streams.- Ramsar site (1990).
Geographical Features- Foothills of Haramuk Mountain.- Contains Zaina Lank island (built by Sultan Zainul-Abi-Din).- Tectonic origin, remnant of Satisar Lake.
Biodiversity- 56 bird species, 39 fish species, 20+ plant species.- Notable migratory birds: White-bellied Heron, Pink-headed Duck, Baer's Pochard, Kashmir Catfish.
Lotus (Nelumbo Nucifera)- Perennial aquatic plant with pink, yellow, or white flowers.- National flower of India.- Cultural significance in Hinduism and Buddhism.
